Dryer Vent Cleaning in League City, TX

Why League City vents fail the way they do
Start with the air itself. Proximity to Galveston Bay keeps humidity and dew points at the high end of the metro, and it puts salt aerosol on exterior vent hoods. Metal flapper louvers corrode at the hinge pin. They stick open or stick closed. Stuck closed, lint packs behind the damper within weeks. Stuck open, humid Clear Creek and Clear Lake corridor air drifts back up the duct and dampens the lint already there. Damp lint cakes. Dry lint blows out.
The housing split matters too. The 1970s–80s ranches and split plans built around the NASA-era expansion usually vent through a sidewall or through the garage. Those runs are short, but the transition hose behind the dryer is often crushed against the wall, and garage runs pick up concrete dust at every joint.
The large 1990s–2010s master-planned sections west of I-45 are different work. Two-story floor plans run laundry upstairs to a roof cap. Vertical lift and elbows feed a screened cap nobody has looked at.
Mature oaks and pines in the older sections add leaf litter and needles right at the hood. Check yours while a load runs. You should feel real push, not a weak warm breath.

Frequently Asked Questions
My dryer takes two or three cycles to dry a load now. Is that normal for a house near Clear Creek?
It's common here, but it isn't normal. Being this close to Galveston Bay means the air going into your dryer already carries a lot of moisture, so the machine has less room to work with before you add any restriction in the duct. A vent that would only be a minor nuisance in a drier climate shows up fast in League City as long dry times and a hot laundry room. Lint buildup is usually the main cause, but on homes near the bay we also find the exterior hood is the problem. The metal louvers corrode in the salt air and stop swinging freely, so the flap stays half-shut and chokes the airflow even when the duct itself is reasonably clear.
Our laundry is upstairs and vents out the roof. Does that change the cleaning?
Yes. Most of the 1990s-and-newer two-story homes west of I-45 run the laundry on the second floor with a long vertical duct to a roof cap, and that's a different job than a short sidewall run. Lint has to travel further and fight gravity, so it settles in the elbows and at the base of the vertical section. We clean those from inside the house and from the cap itself, because clearing only from the dryer end tends to push debris up toward the cap where it packs in. Roof caps also collect their own problems: screens, bird nesting, corroded flappers that quit closing. We check the termination on every upstairs laundry rather than assume it's fine.
What usually fails on League City vents besides lint?
The exterior hood, more often than anything else. Salt aerosol off the bay works on the metal flapper louvers until they stick, sometimes open, which lets humid air and insects back into the duct, sometimes closed, which backs pressure up the whole run. In the older sections with mature oaks and pines, the hood also catches leaf litter, needles and seed debris that mats together with lint right at the opening. On the 1970s and 80s ranches we frequently find the duct runs through the garage, where it can be crushed, disconnected at a joint, or terminated into the garage space instead of outside. Those are things we look for before we assume the problem is just a dirty duct.
How fast can you get out here, and do you ever do same-day?
Same-day happens, usually when we already have League City or the Clear Lake side on the schedule that day and have room between calls. If you're flexible on the window, your odds are decent. Otherwise, most League City homes get booked within a few days. If your dryer is shutting off on thermal overload, you smell hot lint, or the duct is disconnected inside the garage, say so when you call. We treat that differently than a routine cleaning and will work to get there sooner.
What makes one League City house cost more than another?
Mainly the vent run and where it ends. A single-story ranch in the older part of town with a short sidewall termination is the simplest version of this job. A two-story with the laundry upstairs and a roof cap takes longer, needs roof access, and involves cleaning from both ends. Garage-routed ducts on the older homes can add time if sections are crushed or come apart and need reconnecting. Hood condition matters too. If the salt air has seized the louvers, that's a replacement rather than a cleaning, and we'll tell you that when we see it instead of after. We'll walk the run and explain what you're looking at before anything gets charged.
